community pre-k advisory council
To maximize community participation and community "ownership" of the Pre-Kindergarten program, the Pre-K Advisory council considers the unique needs and characteristics of the community. Serving in an advisory capacity, the purpose of the council is to play a major role in the on-going guidance of the program. All council members should understand the importance of their participation on the council and be committed to giving the time and effort necessary to establish and maintain a successful Pre-K program. All participants are to offer their services, expertise, and resources to support this effort. The goal is to place pre-kindergarten classes in facilities that best meet the needs of children.
Collaboration within the Pre-K Advisory Council can result in the development and continuation of successful partnerships, which are essential to long-term and short-term development and possible expansion of Pre-Kindergarten programs in respect to facilities, resources, recruitment, funding, and community support.
The C-PAC must meet a minimum of two times per school year. C-PAC members are asked to sign a form indicating their participation in the discussion regarding the upcoming school year's pre-k application and program operation. This signature page is submitted with the local education agency's reapplication to the state for continuation of funding for the VPK program.
